Crime Watch

The Skycrest community has a very active Neighborhood Watch program.   This national, voluntary crime prevention effort is centered around the community and the police department working together for the safety and protection of our neighborhoods.  City of Clearwater police officer(s) attend our monthly meetings to keep us abreast of any recent criminal activity or developments in our area.  This also affords us an opportunity to ask questions or express ongoing concerns affecting our neighborhood.

If you are experiencing a police emergency, always call 9-1-1 for immediate assistance.  If you have a non-emergency concern, you can call dispatch at 562-4200 to report the problem.  Concerns may also be brought to  any monthly Skycrest  Neighbors meeting.

In January 2009, the City of Clearwater implemented a new City Crime Watch program as part of its 'Project Next Step' which is designed to reach out to the community with more police and crime information, more efficiently.  This is an email based program where members receive regular bulletins with information about crime, police activity and crime prevention.  To become a member, send an email to Gregory.Stewart@MyClearwater.com and include your name, address, zip code and email address.

You can click on the following link to find recent Crime Watch Bulletins on the Clearwater Police web site.

Clearwater Police patrol operations are divided into three geographic districts.  Each district is under the command of a police lieutenant, the District Commander.  The District Commander is responsible for:
  • Deployment of officers within the district
  • Direct coordination with businesses and neighborhoods
  • Identifying potential problems and developing pro-active responses
In the Fall of 2007, the line for District II was expanded in recognition that many of the issues facing our neighborhood are linked to areas just to our West.   As a result, all streets in Skycrest to the West of Hercules Ave are under the command of District II, while streets from Hercules to Belcher are under the command of District III.
